I am a multimedia artist that is specialized in the field of digital media such as video and photography. My work is centered on the topic of cultural identity and explores what defines people for who they are. Having come from a diverse background, I often break down all the aspects of my identity in my work such as race, heritage, environment and family history in order to gain a better understanding of who Nathaniel Atkinson really is.
Having been born in the UK, I was raised in a small market town called Evesham which is located in the Wychavon district of Worcestershire and has a population of 23,576 which happens to be predominantly white. My ethnic background is a mix of British on my mother’s side and West Indian on my father’s side. All of these aspects have shaped me into who I am today, which I reflect on within my work.
